A coupling is a device that connects two shafts or shafts and rotating parts, rotates together when transmitting motion and power, and will not separate under normal conditions. Sometimes it is also used as a safety device to prevent the connected parts from bearing too much load and play the role of overload protection. Do you know what type of coupling is? The rigid coupling does not have the ability of buffering and compensating the relative displacement of the two shafts, so it needs the strict alignment of the two shafts. However, this kind of coupling has the advantages of simple structure, low manufacturing cost, convenient installation and disassembly, easy maintenance, high alignment force of the two shafts, large transmission torque and wide application. Commonly used in flange coupling, sleeve coupling and clamping coupling.

Flexible coupling can be divided into flexible coupling without elastic element and flexible coupling with elastic element. The former only has the ability to compensate the relative displacement of two shafts, while the latter only has the ability to compensate the sliding block coupling, tooth type coupling, universal coupling and chain coupling; the latter has the ability to cushion and reduce the relative displacement of two shafts due to its elastic element However, due to the limitation of the strength of elastic elements, the transmission torque is generally not as good as the flexible coupling without elastic elements; the common ones are elastic sleeve pin coupling, elastic sleeve pin coupling, tire type coupling, serpentine spring coupling and spring type coupling.
