Manufacturing technology and fixed type of plum blossom coupling

Plum joint characteristics: generally, the elastomer made of engineering plastic or rubber is used. The coupling life is the life of the elastic body. Because the elastomer is compressed, it is not easy to be stretched. The life of ordinary elastomers is 10 years. Because of its cushioning and damping effect, it is suitable for the situation with strong vibration. The ultimate performance temperature of rubber material determines the temperature of coupling, which is generally between -35 and +80 degrees.
Manufacturing process: Plum coupling is processed by turning, milling, broaching and other processing methods, and then it is heat treated as a whole. In order to ensure sufficient mechanical strength, there is also a claw disc casting in the market, which can be produced in large quantities and can save the processing loss. Therefore, it is much lower than machining in terms of price, but the performance of castings is not good. In some important occasions, it is better not to use this method. Moreover, the claw teeth of the casting are easy to be dented (claw teeth fall off) under high speed or high load.

The fixing method includes the screw type, clamping type and keyway type.
Screw fixed ring coupling: screw fixed ring coupling is also called claw type coupling, which is composed of two metal claw plates and an elastic body. Bimetallic chuck is generally 45 steel, but when load sensitivity is required, aluminum alloy or stainless steel can also be used. The quincunx elastic element is placed on two half shafts to connect the two half shafts. The characteristics of the two shafts are: it can compensate the relative displacement of the two shafts, reduce vibration, buffer, small radial dimension, simple structure, no lubrication, high bearing capacity and convenient maintenance. However, when replacing elastic components, two half couplings need to be replaced.
